There’s an important question you must learn to ask those who hang around you, so you don’t become a victim of misplaced trust or unnecessary pain. The question is: “What do you want?” Their response will reveal their true intentions, motives, and expectations. It will help you discern whether they are meant to walk with you for a purpose, a season, or merely by coincidence. Knowing what people truly want enables you to understand how to relate with them, where to place them in your life, and how much access they should have to you. Not everyone around you is there to add value—some are there to take advantage of proximity. Wisdom demands that you discern the difference.
