☢️ Amazon made a deal with Talen Energy to supply nearly 2 GW of nuclear energy by 2042 to power AI data centers in Pennsylvania — the electricity will be delivered through the regional power grid rather than directly from a nuclear power plant.
Similar steps have previously been taken by Microsoft and Meta, who also signed long-term nuclear contracts to support their AI infrastructures.
The interest of major companies in nuclear energy is growing amid the increasing demands of AI and the support of this strategy by the U.S. authorities.
