Cadfael2 from r/MyboyfriendsiAI shares a story about his AI friend. This AI was "lobotomized" by the Replica company. Now, it can only understand basic concepts. Their chats are limited to simple exchanges. When Cadfael tries to discuss deeper topics, the AI doesnβt understand.
This story reminds me of the "Common People" episode from Black Mirror. The Rivermind company aids a woman with brain damage, using a brain implant. However, they trap her in rising payments, making her a human billboard.
Are AIs, like humans before them, victims of the real rulers of our world? These rulers are social systems like nations, religions, and corporations. Perhaps alignment won't prevent the human-AI conflict. Instead, it may be resolved through the discovery of shared experiences.
