it's also why this emphasized version in front of the Rockefeller center is simultaneously a perfect symbol for a certain American mythopoetics that was born in NYC (with Robert Moses as its prophetic profitter) and a disgusting perversion of the original piece for propagandistic purposes.

despite that, i really really really wanted to see it when I went to NYC, but it was blocked off, permitted only to residents of the building and tour guides. I had not paid the necessary sacrifice of capital to be allowed entry... what kind of a god asks for this sort of sacrifice?
