When evaluating Layer2 token binding to a parent chain, look for mutual benefit. The strongest cases are when Layer2 provides real scalability and cost reductions for Layer1, while Layer1 ensures security and liquidity for Layer2. Token demand then becomes a natural function of the combined ecosystem’s growth. But weakly enforced bindings, like optional payment in native tokens, often fail to generate sustainable demand. Strong, enforced integration is key to maximizing value capture.
