found another super authentic hole in the wall - this time it’s thai food 🇹🇭 i was so excited, i forgot to take a photo of the mango sticky rice until a few bites in! they only serve it when they can import the right mangos from thailand—and it shows. first time i’ve had mango sticky rice this good in the u.s. truly transported me 🥹💛

1- these past few days, a girl went missing in my country, sadly, after 10 days they found her body, she had been raped and murdered by a man, i live with my brother, and he’s been away for a few weeks, i get overwhelmed with sudden fear and anxiety, in those moments, i rush to farcaster and try to escape the fear until i was 18, i had never gone outside alone even for an hour, i didn’t have a phone, and the only thing on my mind was studying when i got into university at 18, during my first month i took a taxi to campus, i didn’t know the route well and was looking at my phone, suddenly, the driver picked up two men, one sat in the front, the other next to me in the back i was terrified, i grabbed the door handle to open it, but it was locked from the inside, i screamed, (let me out, i want to get off) but the driver ignored me then suddenly the car turned onto a dirt road, i had screamed so much my voice was nearly gone, those two men started punching and kicking me in the head on the dirt road

Wanted to take a moment to introduce myself! Huge shout out to my friend @kaufman for telling me about this place. I'm a journalist and author, I've spent my career at the intersection of data, culture, and markets.

Been obsessed with this Catalan recipe I discovered this week: fricandó. You take a skirt steak, season and cover in flour and fry in olive oil on both sides. One browned, take the meat out. In the same pan, fry up onions, garlic, carrots, tomato, and a bunch of thyme. Splash in a cup of red wine. I used a Spanish rioja this time but used a Georgian dry red last time because that’s what I wanted to drink. Add the steak back in and pour in chicken or beef broth. Let simmer for 45 minutes covered. Take out the steak, put the rest in a blender. Cut up the meat, pour the blended puree back into the pan and voila — you’re done. I had it with potatoes last time. This time I made rice.

good read! thank you for sharing this. reading it made me think about how easily real issues—like housing or job insecurity—get redirected into gender resentment. it’s not just a south korea thing. when care and equity get framed as threats, the slide toward authoritarianism becomes easier to justify. no easy answers here, but watching closely.

I wrote about South Korea's elections tomorrow and why anti-feminism has become a key force for the authoritarian right there -- and what we can learn from the Koreans' impressive fightback! Love to hear what y'all think! https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2025/06/feminism-south-korea-elections/682992/?gift=yMNG1nWDz8TdLBAi02a-v0ruZWWjxM8MFqUgjOBo_HM&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share
