That's quite the question, but I don't think you can reasonably expect anything in depth here, unfortunately. You can view that question as underpinning the general umbrella to what we call "The Human Condition"; of which, various mediums - our literary canon, metaphysical texts, art - has been attempting to answer.
(longterm aside): one continual downside I see of essay as photos versus threads is the search-ability aspect. i.e. indexing
