I ❤️ machining. Turns out (yes) spinning work against a tool might be enough for making some small parts from 1/2” round stock. Lathing on the mill—seems dumb, may be just dumb enough.

Plotter controller upgrade on deck. Booting up the ad5m made me realize how much faster the plotter could be running with proper hardware.

I was digging through the English Cycles archives for design inspo and came across this absolute gem. Cleanest foldable build I have ever seen 👀

AND I finally figured out how to model them in 3d. Working Front Triangle:

Closer on locking the geo for bike #2 The idea is a tucked, steel, aero frame with room for big tires. Want to try and replace my "fast" plastic bike with something a little softer. Digging this site and it's simple interface https://www.bikegeocalc.com/#25APT+Aero+Gravel+Prototypea0b4c745.65996d268e623.27697f694.800

Testing some working dimensions on the new frame jig and realized that the spine design was stealing a ton of rigidity for adjustability I just don’t need now. Bolted each of the three segments right to the table, doing away with long perpendicular track they were all attached to and they feel waaay more solid on all d...

I’ve been cooking in the garage over the last month, making good progress on a greatly improved bike frame jig. I’m able to pull off a few 10-15min chucks of time a day. Nothing I’ve done in a day has seemed very meaningful but I’m to the point where it’s nearly operational.

Finishing up the last layers of my minimal enclosure kit. Was a nice project to start with a good assortment of parts to test stuff like optional supports and brims. By the end my parts needed less and less finagling for final fit. Nice to have it closed in for fumes and heat retention anyways.

Finally got it squeezing out decent prints. Gonna have work on a more permanent way to tie it down to the bench. This thing moves! https://farcaster.xyz/aptlab/0x67ff1e69

New pickup. Throwing caution to the wind and jumping straight into petg-cf. Filament, hard nozzle, and enclosure kit are in route.
