LayerZero's paid clam has sparked controversy in the PolyMarket community
The LayerZero Foundation has announced that the ZRO claim will be paid and therefore the token launch should not be interpreted as an airdrop.
"The term 'airdrop' was never used in relation to the ZRO token distribution for a specific reason - it was not an airdrop."
This led to controversy in the PolyMarket community. The platform was taking bets on whether LayerZero would hold an airdrop before June 30.
On the day of the branding launch, the probability of a "Yes" outcome reached 99%, but then sagged to 75% when the LayerZero Foundation made its announcement. The bet was later closed on the "Yes" option [airdrop held]. However, the controversy didn't stop there.
According to the project's CEO Brian Pellegrino, the project team originally did not plan to hold the giveaway at all. He stated that the airdrop was actually a forced measure, the reasons for which were speculation and community pressure.
