What is Zama?
Zama is a protocol that enables confidential smart contracts to be deployed on any existing Layer 1 or Layer 2 blockchain. It acts as a computation layer that allows developers to build decentralized applications (dApps) with full data confidentiality. The inputs, outputs, and internal states of these smart contracts remain encrypted throughout their lifecycle.
Rather than building a standalone L1, Zama provides the tooling and infrastructure to integrate confidentiality into the blockchains we already use. This is done through cryptographic primitives and FHE compilers that allow encrypted operations to be offloaded, computed, and verified securely.
