Using your phone before bed might not be as harmful as we think. A new University of Toronto study on over 1,300 Canadians found that people who either used their phones very often or rarely slept better — while those who used them 1–4 times a week had the worst sleep quality, showing a strange U-shaped pattern. Professor Colleen Carney says the screen’s light matters, but the content matters more: relaxing apps can help, but scrolling social media or checking emails right before bed is a disaster.
