Spotted these elegant Western Grebes dancing through the water in Desolation Sound this past summer.
Quiet, fleeting, and impossibly graceful. Moments like this are why I keep choosing the wild. ππͺΆ

Most of the meaningful moments in my life werenβt loud or dramatic.
They were soft. Easy to miss if I wasnβt paying attention.
Photography helps me notice them and hold onto them just a little longer.

I donβt always know what the day will bring, but I try to give myself one simple moment of stillness.
Just a pause.
A breath.
Thatβs often when the beauty around me finally comes into focus.

Buffleheads are the most beautiful birds. The male glows with that iridescent head, shifting from greens to purples in the right light, with crisp white patches that look painted on.
The female is quieter in colour, soft brown with that single white cheek patch, but she has a grace all her own.
Together they glide ...

I watched the herd of Roosevelt elk cross the field for close to an hour, patiently waiting and hoping theyβd cross the creek so I could get photos of them in the water.
They didnβt quite make it. Just one wandered in.
Still worth it.

I watched them for a long while, the White-faced Ibises, standing together in the still water, calm and unhurried.
At some point I realized Iβd joined them.
Just standing there.
Just as peaceful.

Another look at the beautiful White-faced Ibis I shared earlier this week. He struck this impossible pose for a heartbeat, and the light hit just right to reveal those iridescent colours.
Photography is all about patience, paying attention, and being ready for the moment.

Let it go. Let it fall. Make some space.
The trees know when to embrace change and make the most of it.
I always have a hard time saying goodbye to summer - the long days, the boating and the ocean. And yet, here comes fall with its wild fire of colour, stealing the show π
Happy Tree Tuesday!
