Grant Thornton Australia engineers used barcode scanners to quickly fix PCs after a CrowdStrike crash.
The company's technical support specialists and system administrators came up with a simple way - to convert the necessary Bitlocker keys into barcodes that can be quickly scanned from the administrator's laptop screen using a barcode scanner (the company had such scanners from Officeworks or JBHIFI in stock), which is perceived by the PC as keyboard, and immediately enters this code into the system during the OS recovery process. The engineers also wrote a PowerShell script to scan Bitlocker barcodes. By entering the hostname of the affected workstation, the script generated the required barcode for the Bitlocker key and provided the LAPS password, allowing the PC to be restored quickly and securely without exposing sensitive information. https://frame.weponder.io/api/polls/5400
