Happy holidays from the Base team - the gas target is now at 20Mgas/s! This is a final push before the Base team (and all of Coinbase) takes 2 weeks to rest & recharge for the holidays. Lots of exciting things to come in 2025.

I've never understood what the gas targets mean for base... how the metrics work etc? Are there any resources that I could read where I could get an overview of why and how this is a metric for base that should be monitored and its impact on the chain?
