Financial Times: Tether executives sold company assets to self-controlled firms According to a report by the British Financial Times, Northern Data, a German AI data center operator partly owned by Tether, sold its Bitcoin mining business, Peak Mining, for up to $200 million in November. Regulatory filings show that the buyers are Highland Group Mining, Appalachian Energy, and other companies, whose directors are Tether co-founder Devasini and CEO Ardoino, highlighting potential conflicts of interest. The sale occurred a few days before Rumble, a social media platform nearly 50% owned by Tether, announced its acquisition of Northern Data for $767.00 m The three parties have complex financial ties: Northern Data has a 610.00 million euro Tether loan, and Tether has also signed a $100.00 million advertising agreement and a $150.00 million GPU service procurement plan with Rumble. In September of this year, Northern Data was searched by European prosecutors for suspected VAT fraud of over 100.00 million euros
