The Matterhorn is one of the most famous and impressive mountains in the Alps, located on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The Matterhorn is known for its difficulty and danger of ascent. The first successful ascent took place on July 14, 1865, by a group of climbers led by the Briton Edward Whymper. However, this climb ended in tragedy: four out of seven members of the expedition died during the descent. This incident highlighted the dangers associated with climbing the Matterhorn and became one of the most famous tragedies in the history of mountains
