What people need is not luxury cars, but admiration and respect; what people need is not the frequent purchase of new clothes, but the gaze of others; what people need is not electronic entertainment, but some interesting things to fill their thoughts and emotions. Trying to use material things to satisfy non-material needs—identity, self-esteem, love, happiness—is the wrong solution.
