The Forest That Grows on Stones There’s a forest in China that is growing on stones, not soil. Located in the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, this forest is home to some of the most unique rock formations in the world. The towering pillar-like structures that shoot up from the ground are actually limestone towers, which have been eroded by time and weather. What’s extraordinary is that trees, moss, and vines grow directly on top of these rocks, thriving in the cracks and crevices where the wind and rain have carved into the stone. This magical forest looks like it could belong to another world, with its ethereal, almost floating rock spires and lush greenery growing in the most unusual places.
