⚠️ This is the trade-off when blockchain and crypto move toward mass adoption. When the internet was first built and marketed, it was called the “information highway”, a place where people could freely share and access information without permission. But once it reached mass adoption, each country started managing it in its own way. Blockchain is going through the same path. "Decentralization" was a strong selling point in the early days. But as mass adoption grows and governments begin building systems on blockchain, it naturally comes under the laws of each country. For example, if the Arbitrum security council can freeze assets in a non-custodial wallet, it is similar to a future scenario where the US government asks a layer 2 to freeze assets of a sanctioned individual.
