Tensions rising in Iran: Widespread protests over a collapsing economy have now spread to more than 30 cities and turned deadly driven largely by soaring inflation and the plummeting rial. At least sevn people have been killed amid clashes with security forces.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump weighed in publicly, warning on Truth Social that the U.S. would intervene militarily if Iran violently suppresses peaceful protesters, saying Washington is “locked and loaded and ready to go.”
Iran’s leadership responded sharply, calling U.S. involvement a threat that could destabilize the entire region and harm American interests.
What started as economic anger over inflation and a currency crash has becom a major political flashpoint not just inside Iran, but in global geopolitics too.
