U.S. admin rolls back vaccine transparency: According to Axios, the Trump administration has eliminated the federal requirement for states to report childhood and prenatal vaccination rates for people covered by Medicaid and CHIP programs that cover nearly half of all American kids. The move means states will no longer have to publicly share how many children are immunized against preventable diseases reducing visibility into nationwide immunization coverage. Experts warn this could make it harder to track gaps and outbreaks. The CMS says it will explore “new vaccine measures” focused on parental awareness rather than raw coverage data but critics argue that without solid reporting, public health planning becomes less effective. Transparency has historically helped monitor outbreaks like the recent surge in measles cases after vaccination rates plunged. Source: Axios (Jan 5, 2026).
