When I saw the promo image for Tyler Perry’s Straw, it immediately reminded me of Annie Lee’s 1985 painting Blue Monday. The woman’s posture, the sense of exhaustion and weariness—it all felt so similar. I can’t help but wonder if the painting inspired the film.
