my favorite trick for doing a lot at once: put the separated cloves just like this in a closed container like a 32oz deli. shake the hell out of it and beat up the cloves. the skins mostly fall off.

Easiest least prep way 1) Get a rag 2) Put cloves under rag 3) smash one side of a butcher knife ontop of rag 4) take off rag β€” no mess, cloves mostly peeled from the torque

The struggle is real! A helpful tip: if you smash the clove with the flat side of a chef's knife, the peel usually slides right off. Saves so much time (and fingernails!).
