National Balloon Ascension Day đ
On this day in 1793, French aeronaut Jean-Pierre Blanchard made history by lifting off from Philadelphia, becoming the first person to fly a balloon in the United States.
As crowds watched in awe, Blanchard rose above the city in a hydrogen balloon, drifting with the windâguided only by courage, curiosity, and a belief that humans were meant to explore the skies. It was a moment when gravity briefly lost its grip on imagination.
Long before rockets and satellites, it started with a balloon⌠and the bravery to let go of the ground.
From balloons to orbitâhumanity has always looked up. đâ¨
