Ethereum turns 10 today!
On Jul 30th, 2015, Ethereum’s genesis block was mined — kicking off a decade of innovation, experiments, forks, gas wars, and on-chain culture.
Some fun facts to celebrate:
🧠 Born from a whitepaper by 19-year-old Vitalik Buterin in 2013. Two years later, it went live.
💰 Crowdfunded launch, raising ~31,000 BTC in its 2014 presale. No VCs, no insider allocations.
👾 First DApp? Etheria, a Minecraft-style game from 2015… rediscovered in 2021.
💥 The DAO hack (2016) led to Ethereum’s most famous fork — and the birth of Ethereum Classic.
⚙️ Smart contracts changed everything, enabling DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, stablecoins, and more.
🌱 “The Merge” (2022) switched Ethereum from PoW to PoS, cutting energy use by over 99%.
