India's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has announced the formation of a special team of digital forensics and blockchain experts to combat the growing use of cryptocurrencies in drug trafficking. The task force will specialize in monitoring cryptocurrency transactions related to the trafficking of prohibited substances on the darknet. To train Indian law enforcement officers in the fight against drugs, NCB, in collaboration with other law enforcement departments of the Ministry of Home Affairs and with the participation of representatives of the crypto market, has developed training programs on digital forensics, darknet and digital assets. The NCB believes that the new unit will enable law enforcement agencies in India to curb the import and movement of narcotic drugs between states. In July, the new crypto division has already identified about a hundred cases of using digital assets to pay for the services of drug dealers and couriers.
