Johannes Vermeer was one of the most prominent painters of the Dutch Golden Age in the 17th century. He was born on October 31, 1632 in Delft, Holland and died in December 1675 in the same city. Vermeer is known for his masterful use of light and color, meticulously composed interior scenes, and his uncanny ability to capture the timeless moments of everyday life. The number of surviving works by Vermeer is relatively small, but each of them is considered a lasting masterpiece in the history of art.
