Not knowing is fun but sideballs are mandatory. A bug I chased for weeks, maybe months, came from insisting every skybox star sit where it REALLY is. As players claimed systems, astronomical accuracy became technical debt. Patch should be live now. Bug reports earn resources. 🍻

When my first sister was born, my family brought home an NES. I did not know it then, but they had also brought home the first component of my professional education. A machine with rules, inputs, consequences, secrets, and the intoxicating suggestion that every system could be understood. Games taught me to read systems before I had language for systems. Why does this work? Why does that fail? What happens if I ignore the intended path, walk into the weeds, and start pulling on the machinery? Some children saw a level. I saw a machine that could be argued with. ~~~ Then came EVE Online. EVE taught me that a stupid idea does not always need an argument. Sometimes you oppose it with market force. Sometimes with logistics. Sometimes with diplomacy. Sometimes with a fleet positioned precisely where the stupid idea was hoping you would not have one.
