Happy International Mother Language Day. Do you know that?
On this day in 1952, about 15 people were shot dead by students protesting for the recognition of Bengali as their mother language! This was the first and last incident in the world where any nation in the world was martyred while trying to protect their mother language. Later, UNESCO in 1999 recognized this sacrifice of the Bengali nation of Bangladesh and declared February 21 as International Mother Language Day!
Humble tribute to all the martyrs.
(In the video, the memorial pillar in memory of the martyrs is the National Shaheed Minar.)
