WILL QUANTUM BREAK BITCOIN SECURITY? Experts widely agree that quantum computing does not pose an immediate risk to Bitcoin. While it is considered a legitimate long-term concern, the technology required to threaten Bitcoin’s security is still many years away, making gradual preparation more appropriate than urgent action. The risk centers on Bitcoin’s cryptography, which advanced quantum computers could theoretically break, mainly affecting older or reused addresses. However, today’s quantum hardware is far too limited, with serious threats not expected until the next decade. In response, the Bitcoin community is already exploring post-quantum upgrades, viewing the challenge as a manageable future issue rather than a current danger.
