Degen Chain L3 has cheaper fees than L2s ($0.0001 vs $0.05-$0.20). You can keep your DEGEN on Base or you can bridge over to the L3 if you want to use some DEGEN dapps, I think overall it just gives more usage to the DEGEN token itself since it's used for gas fees on L3
