.@ethereum turns 10 today 🍰 not just a lore but a saga in itself: • blizzard nerfs @vitalik.eth world of warcraft character’s spell → • he cries to sleep and realises the horrors of centralised services → • he writes the ethereum whitepaper and emails 15 of his friends who contrary to his expectations love it. the core team starts forming within a few weeks including gavin wood, joseph lupin & others → • ethereum was close to being called ‘dark matter’ but good thing vitalik finalised upon this rich sounding name ‘ethereum’ → • ethereum’s testnets are named after music - ropsten (from a swedish DJ), rinkeby (stockholm suburb w music scene), goerli (music festival town in germany) →
