Proton support recommends signing out and back in. I'll give it a test although I'm skeptical this will fix it since it's been an issue for a year now.

Before signing out of Proton it's also important to back up all of your files locally on your computer or on a separate drive. Signing back in on the same computer created a duplicate synced Proton Drive folder and I'm observing small inconsistencies compared to the original synced folder.
