Slow is good I did my 2nd cacao ceremony tonight at @edgecity since the 1st one 5 years ago in Medellín, Colombia. Both were amazing. Because I was prepared for this one with something I needed to think through I feel that I took away even more than the 1st time. I'm well disciplined in every area of health I can think of except for sleep. - During my session I thought about how I can create positive feelings in the evening before bed - What I came up with is to think about how "slow is good". Slowing down and doing less leads to rest and sleep. - I realized before the session that I associate being tired with feeling bad and that I pump myself up in the evening to feel good about what I did that day or the upcoming day instead of allowing myself to feel tired - I didn't like "sleep is good" because that is too goal oriented. If I'm not sleeping right away than I could feel anxious.

Preparation steps for cacao ceremonies - Clear your mind before by relaxing, E.g. Taking notes of what to think about, walking, listening to music, etc. - Choose something to think through during the session like a question and let it change as needed - Bring a notebook and pen - Avoid mind altering substances 24 hours before, E.g. Caffeine, CBD, cannabis, alcohol, painkillers, etc. - Eat light, nutritious food, and hydrate before, with the last meal ≥3 hours before

Another part of "slow is good" for me is appreciating a completed day doing things that are important to me the same way I appreciate a good meal finished or an empty bag of coffee beans enjoyed.

It's interesting that I had 2 cups of ceremonial cacao which has some caffeine in it. However I feel very relaxed and sleepy. I'm looking forward to looking into this further.

I've had a recurring "Sleep" calendar event for many years as a reminder to go to bed around that time. I've also been ignoring that event for many years. I'm changing the recurring event to "Slow down" as a reminder to start relaxing. This is more actionable and less specific outcome focused so I won't feel as much anxiety if I'm not asleep by an exact time.

I've started wearing my blue light glasses at 22:00 when I want to go to bed at 24:00. https://warpcast.com/adamhurwitz.eth/0x521800de

Thinking about the fresh cup of coffee with great quality beans brewed for me in the morning is an added thing to look forward to when going to bed. Using an affordable drip coffee machine's "delay" feature to automate the brew makes this easy. https://warpcast.com/adamhurwitz.eth/0x2609b7d4

Reducing caffeine consumption later in the day by replacing it with something healthy I look forward to and enjoy is important for long term success. https://warpcast.com/adamhurwitz.eth/0x8c4ead76
