Nothing can prepare you, but you're definitely in for a trip. This should be your entry point to Jodorowsky, but it's worth going down the rabbit checking out his other films as well. If this film sticks in your head long after you see it, it's worth grabbing a physical copy and listening to the commentary. Easily one of the best I've ever heard. George Harrison was original supposed to be the lead in this, but objected to one scene where his ass would have been washed by a mystical deity in a fountain beside a hippo. Jodorowsky was cocky enough to say that if he didn't commit to it all he didn't want him. It cost him a huge amount of distribution, but this film would always be destined for cult status, Beatle or no Beatle.
