Vangelis scored Blade Runner on the fly while watching the footage presented to him daily on VHS. If he felt a strong connection to what he was watching, he would create a composition straight away. Being lead by the images, he would record his creations without any prior rehearsals. If a scene induced no immediate reaction, Vangelis would not push himself to force the music out, instead he would work on some other tasks at the studio and come back to it later on.
