Node operators—validators, sequencers, indexers, or storage miners—are natural airdrop recipients when networks want to bootstrap security and infrastructure. Rewards may target early validators, testnet node runners, or relayer operators who provide critical services. Allocation criteria often include uptime, stake, performance history, slashing records, or participation in decentralization efforts. Because node operation imposes real-world costs, airdrops to operators compensate both economic risk and infrastructure contribution. Expect projects to require verifiable telemetry, signed attestations, or on-chain proofs of service to avoid sybil claims and accurately credit sustained operational work.
