"The Coronation of Napoleon" by Jacques-Louis David, reimagined .
The work was commissioned verbally by Napoleon I in September 1804.
The painter aims to show the unity of the French people around the Emperor. It is known that Napoleon's mother did not want to travel to Paris for the ceremony. Even so, she appears in the painting, in the stands. Napoleon's sisters had refused to wear Josephine's mantle. However, the family serves the interests of the dynasty by ruling the territories governed by its members.
