@ace
my fid is 539. this is not to brag, but to share with you my historical take on when i will be leaving farcaster.
1. 1000 dau
when i joined years ago, farcaster had so few users that one could actually read every single cast of that day. explains why when @peter and i launched the first ever bot with @perl (when it was a bookmarking app) and all you could see on the feed was perl - got a lot of hate for that at the time
2. familiar faces
i remember seeing @dwr @ted @linda @matthew @dylsteck.eth @rish and others from the first few weeks i joined. most of them are still here. that is nearly a 5y retention for a networked product surface. if apps were physical spaces, x is a country. farcaster is a tiny coffee shop, but specialized with that secret sauce of builders + onchain native experiences and tool sets. feels native to do certain things beyond just yapping.
3. proper transition
i remember @rish initially building like a video/photo app prototype on farcaster. to see him evolve it into neynar was incredible. if @dwr was dorsey, @rish has a shot at being musk.
all these are personal takes after a thick dose of hopium puffs but that is what keeps me here. when any of 1-3 falters is when i would feel like my time here is done. til then, this is my favorite neighborhood coffee shop. whether it becomes a global franchise or stay a cozy coffee shop is up to heaven, but i am here to see the eventuality of it all
