HBO Claims Peter Todd Is Satoshi Nakamoto, But Evidence Raises Doubt
On Tuesday, the documentary “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery” named Canadian developer Peter Todd as Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin.
However, the evidence presented by director Cullen Hoback is unlikely to convince those who have spent years analyzing the trail left by Nakamoto, who disappeared in 2011.
Todd himself called the claim “absurd.” The film features a scene from a Bitcoin forum where Todd allegedly accidentally continued a thought on Nakamoto’s behalf using his own account.
While the film offers a number of hints, including coincidences in Todd’s posting schedule and forum activity, many crypto experts remain skeptical of the theory.
