Part of what makes X so shitty to use now is that there is no sense of shared reality on the platform With Twitter, we had a solid veneer of truth that 80% could reach consensus on Now, it’s a thousand fragments of reality trying to coexist (they can’t) The people crave a retvrn to an internet that feels real again

how far do you have to go in Twitter history when "80% could reach consensus"? probably more than a decade it's not X who killed consensus, it's the attention-based algos who incentivize fragmentation you get what you incentivize

5-10 years probably The fabric definitely frayed, but Twitter tried to hold onto sense making into the 2020s

I remember Twitter during the 2016 election quite well people were already living in parallel universes then by the 2020s it got even worse maybe some pockets were less polarized but by 2020s I don't think there's was much to hold together
