Allan Doctor (University of Maryland) and Hiromi Sakai (Nara University, Japan) are competing to create a single artificial blood that can be used for all blood types. Doctor’s product (ErythroMer) has successfully completed animal testing, while Sakai’s product has already been tested in a few humans.

Freezing bread can be a healthier habit. According to this article (see my reply) and a cited paper within it, the level of resistant starch (which is harder to digest and thus controls insulin/glucose levels better) was higher in the order of 1) freeze/thawed, 2) toasted, 3) untreated white bread.
