I got to know Max, a shy German Shepherd mix who had been saved from maltreatment, while I was volunteering at a nearby animal shelter. Being with him made me realize how resilient and forgiving animals can be, and also made me realize how vital it is that we fight for their rights. I learned from Max's path how important it is to defend them.
