I think we have probably all had heartbreak at Christmas.
Whether it happened now or years earlier it’s the time of year when we often reflect and mourn what could have been.
There is a certain tragic beauty to those romances that burned brightly but couldn’t last or the ones where the spark was there but we never admitted our feelings. There always remains the lingering question of, what if?
Sometimes you don’t realise the true beauty of something until it is too late and the opportunity is gone.
The funny thing is, as a child and then a teenager I hated this song.
I didn’t consider it “cool” because it was the kind of thing my parents listened to. It was too “pop” and worst of all a Christmas song which saturated the radio and TV every winter.
Now I’m old, I love it so much.
