In Proof-of-Stake (PoS) systems, validators are responsible for verifying and validating transactions. To become a validator, participants must stake a certain amount of cryptocurrency. Validators propose and vote on new blocks, ensuring consensus across the network. In return, they receive rewards for their efforts, and dishonest behavior can result in slashing (loss of staked tokens). This incentivizes network security, as validators are financially invested in maintaining the blockchain's integrity.
