Little House on the Prairie Young Laura and her family move from the big woods of Wisconsin to the plains of Kansas and set up a life there by the sweat of their brows. Exquisite. Unequivocally a masterpiece. I know I'm onto a good kids' book when I look forward more to reading to my boys than I do to reading on my own. It exudes the toughness, grit, and courage of the frontier from every page. It's full of adventure and narrative. Laura learn lessons and grows, but never in a trite or sanctimonious way. It's like the literary equivalent a 6oz portion of ribeye and half a baked potato with butter and sour cream. Some rare treats are both delightful and good for you. You couldn't ask for a more delicious dose of virtue. My boys loved it. I loved it. Strongest possible recommendation for young readers.
