The Good Earth
Wang Lung rises from peasant farmer to wealth, power, and corruption before he rediscovers his connection with the soil.
I love a generational epic, but I have to admit that this didn't floor me like I hoped it would. Quite possibly a me problem. Anyone wanna step in to provide a useful lens for thinking about it?
I'd recommend Shogun if you're looking for a large scale work with eastern flair or East of Eden if you're looking for that intense family drama.
Not terrible, but not recommended.
