In the quiet of a winter afternoon, she placed the glass between them on the little wooden coaster he had carved years ago. Inside, the milk had settled into soft layers of dusk and cream—yet at its heart glowed a perfect square of electric blue, trembling like a secret heartbeat. He looked up from her eyes to the light, then back again. “You still remember,” he whispered. She touched the rim of the glass, letting the cyan pulse wash over her fingers. “Every time the sky turns this exact bruised color at sunset… I think of the night you said you’d find a way to keep a piece of it forever. Even if it was just for me.” The blue flickered once, brighter, as if answering. He reached across the table, covering her hand with his. “Then let it stay lit,” he said softly, “until we finish this drink… and every one after.” Outside the window, snow began to fall—silent, patient, framing the two of them and their small, glowing forever.
