Ethereum vs $ETH The challenges facing Ethereum are not necessarily the same as those affecting Ether. Following the Merge, ETH supply was steadily decreasing for an extended period. However, after the Dencun upgrade, excess supply has begun to resurface. Ethereum’s leadership is focused on making the network more affordable and scalable, but rising supply puts downward pressure on Ether’s price. The rollup-based expansion strategy has helped retain users and reduced the need to migrate to alternative L1s, but it has also decreased ETH burns on the mainnet. The Pectra upgrade will further increase the number of blobs, ensuring that transaction fees for Layer 2s stay low. Demand is another key price driver. So far, inflows into ETH ETFs haven’t been strong enough to lift prices, as monetary policy remains too tight to support risk assets. A sustained rally is only likely when expectations for Fed rate cuts increase and balance sheet reduction comes to a stop.
