Starting January 15, 2026, Vietnam enters a new phase for crypto with the launch of a regulated pilot framework for licensed crypto exchanges. Here are the key changes crypto users in Vietnam should be aware of: • Only licensed exchanges are allowed. From July 2026, off-exchange trading, including OTC and P2P outside approved platforms, may be penalized. • Crypto transactions become taxable at 0.1 percent of transaction value. • Limited asset listings in the early phase, mainly large cap assets such as BTC, ETH, USDT, and USDC. • Stablecoins will no longer be used as trading pairs on local exchanges. All transactions must be settled in VND. • Users are expected to trade only on Vietnam based exchanges officially approved by the Ministry of Finance. My takeaway: short term pain, long term progress. For many current users, this will feel restrictive. Higher costs, fewer assets, and less flexibility, especially for active traders. Peace
